Big Valley Jamboree adds more acts

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Big Valley Jamboree organizers added a few more bands to the list for its 20th anniversary celebration in Camrose from August 2 to 5.

Although the main stage headliners Blake Shelton, Toby Keith and Rascal Flatts have been named, Panhandle Productions filled in some gaps with great country music entertainers.

It all starts with the  Thursday Kick-off Party featuring the legendary Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Canada’s Jason McCoy is making a return visit to the Big Valley Jamboree this year. He turned in one of his finest shows  at the Camrose Regional Exhibition grounds last time and local music fans have been asking for his return ever since. He is a multiple Canadian County Music Association and Juno Award winner. McCoy has a well-earned reputation as one of Canada’s finest country music male vocalists. He hasn't yet confirmed yet on which day he will be in Camrose.

Besides Shelton, who will be  wrapping things up on Friday night, Kellie Pickler was added to hit the stage on the same day.

She first gained national attention in 2005 as a top 10 finalist on American Idol where she electrified audiences across North America. Kellie has steadily built on that success with a string of hits and awards. Her newest album, 100 Proof, will be released later in January and she will be performing those songs this summer. Past idol contestants Carrie Underwood and Jaydee Bixby have also had success and appeared on the main stage at BVJ.

On Saturday, Toby Keith has vowed to entertain the crowd after he was disappointed he couldn't perform last year. Before he closes things out, The Good Brothers and High Valley will open for him.

The Good Brothers are icons in Canadian music and have also appeared in Camrose before. Their up tempo music will have everyone singing or dancing in the concert bowl. High Valley is an upcoming Alberta band that a lot of music fans will get an opportunity to see.

The popular and entertaining Williams and Ree  and rising Indie band artists The Heartbroken will open for the Eli Young band, Michelle Wright and Rascal Flatts.

Michelle Wright was on the Big Valley Jamboree stage in the first year, so it is only fitting she helps celebrate the 20th anniversary. She is one of Canada’s finest female country stars. The latest member of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, Wright has won numerous Junos, ACM  and CCMA awards, including Female Vocalist of the year five times. She has now put together a 17-song acoustic album of many of her greatest hits, including “Take It Like a Man” and “She Would Be Sixteen”.

Ticket prices will increase on February 1, so it is important to act now for maximum savings. For a complete list of prices, camping and ticket information, call Big Valley Jamboree at 1-888-404-1234 or call Ticketmaster.
