Mcmaster signs with Camrose Kodiaks

Tanner Macmaster has signed with the Camrose Kodiaks organization for next season.

“Tanner has a very bright future ahead of him and he has the potential to one day play pro if he continues developing and working hard,” said Boris Rybalka, Kodiaks' general manager and coach.

Tanner is a highly skilled 16-year-old forward from Calgary. He collected 39 points last season in 32 games with the Calgary Buffaloes midget triple-A hockey club. "These are very good stats, but what is even more impressive is that Tanner did this as a 15-year-old hockey player in midget triple-A. We are very excited to have the opportunity to develop Tanner and see how he progresses during the year,” Rybalka added.

Boris feels that Macmaster has the type of skill and hockey sense that past players such as Joe Colborne, Mike Connolly and Mason Raymond had when they arrived in Camrose. “He definitely can see the play develop and every time he is on the ice he will be a threat to either set someone up or have a scoring opportunity,” said Boris.

The Kodiaks open training camp on August 24, but Macmaster will be in Camrose on August 13 for conditioning camp, along with 60 other athletes in order to prepare for next season.
