Jackson, Antebellum part of Big Valley in 2013
Prior to the main stage appearance of Rascal Flatts at the Big Valley Jamboree to close out the outdoor music festival's 20th anniversary, organizers unveiled two major artists that will be part of the August 1 to 4, 2013, line-up.
Ten years after making his first appearance in 2003, Alan Jackson has been confirmed to play on Friday, August 2.
Alan is known for blending traditional honky-tonk and mainstream country sounds and penning many of his own hits. He has recorded 13 studio albums, three greatest hits albums, two holiday albums, a gospel album and several compilations. More than 50 of his singles have appeared on Billboard's list of the top 30 country songs. Of Jackson's entries, 35 were number one hits. Alan is the recipient of two Grammys, 16 CMA Awards, 17 ACM Awards and nominee of multiple other awards. He is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and he was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
Making their first appearance at BVJ on Sunday, August 4, will be Lady Antebellum.
Lady Antebellum was awarded top new duo or group by the Academy of Country Music and new artist of the year by the Country Music Association in 2008. The group was nominated for four Grammy Awards. Of these nominations, Lady Antebellum took home the award for best country performance by duo or group with vocals for "I Run to You." The group was also awarded top vocal group, song of the year ("Need You Now"), and single of the year ("Need You Now") at the 44th ACM Awards.
The group won five more awards at the 53rd Grammy Awards, including song of the year and record of the year for "Need You Now". Lady Antebellum was also awarded the best country album award at the 54th Grammy Awards.
"These are two strong acts that I hope the people will like, but we still have 16 more to go (on the main stage). We are now heading into the time of year where we are booking for next year," said BVJ producer Larry Werner. The kick-off party will have about four bands as well.
The 2012 edition of the Big Valley Jamboree set a record as having the largest attendance in 20 years with crowds reaching close to 90,000 people over the weekend.
