H&R Block Camrose franchisee Janice Zimmerman was recognized with a 25-year service award at a H&R Block National Operations meeting in Vancouver Oct. 30.

"It was myself and one other person who received the award," said Zimmerman.

"I guess it speaks to how much I enjoy what I am doing."

Alberta NDP opposition leader Brian Mason is asking people to send their power bills to him.

“January’s power bill is a real eye popper for most homeowners,” said Mason, in a plea to receive some answers. “My family’s bill was double what it was a year ago. I want to table as many power bills as I can to prove to this government that deregulation is hurting Alberta families.”

The City of Camrose and its residents are being encouraged to join the call for the adoption of a  poverty reduction strategy for Alberta.

Action to End Poverty in Alberta has initiated a petition urging the Government of Alberta to provide leadership, and for all political parties to adopt, support and legislate poverty reduction targets and timelines.

The Alberta Junior Hockey League and the RBC Play Hockey Project revealed the finalists for the 2012 league awards.

Two finalists from each division were selected by the league’s general managers and coaches.  The award winners for each of the categories will be determined through voting by the AJHL managers and coaches following the completion of the regular season.

The Kelsey Drama Club will present a special dinner performance of Norman Foster's Bedtime Stories this Sunday (Feb. 26).

"The proceeds from the performance will be put into a trust fund that has been set up for Karen Greenwood at the Royal Bank in Camrose," said Ardis Peterson.
