Camrose and District Food Bank will be hosting Food for Thought, the annual conference of the Alberta Food Banks Network Association at Bethel Lutheran Church Thursday, May 23, and Friday, May 24.

Camrose resident Wanita Voytechek won the gold medal in the baking component of Skills Alberta at the Expo Centre in Edmonton May 15 and 16.

Wanita will now represent Alberta at the Skills Canada national competition to be held in Vancouver in June.

The country music stars are aligned for the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose on August 1 to 4 at the Camrose Regional Exhibition.

Headliners Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw and Kick-off Party's Neal McCoy will be joined by some of the best rising stars in North America.

Mackenzie Doll earned a gold medal in the National Wheelchair Basketball Championships. Her team won the gold medal in Longueil, Quebec, on April 28.

Doll was part of the Edmonton Inferno women's team that qualified for the nationals. Six teams from across the nation battled for the medals.

The Edmonton Blackhawks needed an extra inning to beat the Camrose Axemen 5-1 in North Central Alberta Baseball League action on Harry Andreassen Field at Kin Park on May 14.
